VISITING DIC

Welcome to the Downtown Islamic Center (DIC) — a vibrant community in the heart of Chicago, open to people of all faiths and backgrounds. Whether you’re coming for daily prayers, Friday (Jumu’ah) prayers, or to learn more about Islam, our doors are always open.

Daily Prayers

DIC hosts all five daily prayers, following local Chicago prayer times. Our center remains open throughout the day for worship, reflection, and community connection. Visitors are welcome to quietly observe any prayer and may ask volunteers or staff for guidance.

Friday (Jumu’ah) Prayers

While all prayers are open to the public, Friday (Jumu’ah) prayers offer the most engaging experience for interfaith and first-time visitors. The Friday prayer includes a short sermon (khutbah) followed by a congregational prayer, providing a meaningful glimpse into the rhythm of Islamic worship and community life. We encourage arriving a few minutes early to find parking and seating.

You’re warmly invited to attend — no registration is required.

Jumu’ah is at 1:10 PM every Friday

For Interfaith and First-Time Visitors

DIC regularly welcomes guests from schools, universities, and community organizations who seek to learn more about Islam and Muslim practice.

Visitor Guidelines:

  • Dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees; women may bring a headscarf if they wish)

  • Remove shoes before entering the prayer area

  • Observe quietly during prayers

  • Photography is permitted in non-prayer areas
