Alhamdulillah, by the mercy of Allah and the generosity of this beautiful ummah, the Downtown Islamic Center has secured a new building in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Zakat Al fitr

Zakat Al-Fitr (Arabic: زكاة الفطر “charity of breaking the fast”) is a form of zakat (mandatory donation) given by every Muslim at the end of Ramadan to purify fasts and feed the poor prior to the Eid celebration.

Zakat

Zakat (Arabic: زكاة‎ zakāt, “that which purifies”) is a form of alms-giving and religious tax in Islam. As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, zakat is a religious obligation for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth.

Expenses

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) promised any Muslim who spends on a masjid that Allah would build them a home in Paradise. (Sahih Bukhari 439)

A sadaqa is a voluntary act of charity in Islam for the sake of Allah either on one’s own behalf or someone else’s, given freely to assist others.
