Current Roles
Kids Program: Secretary: We are looking for a secretary for our Kids’ Program. It operates Sundays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM starting September 13th. We are looking for a responsible adult that can ensure classrooms are ready before students arrive, step in when a student or teacher needs assistance, and field questions from folks who have questions or want to register on the spot.
New Muslims’ Program Lead: DIC is introducing a New Muslims’ buddy program that seeks to pair new Muslims with a brother or a sister to reach out to their first 30 days of being a Muslim. We are seeking a program lead who will be responsible for designing and ordering materials for our new shahada bags, pairing new shahadas with a “buddy,” and organizing quarterly meet-ups at DIC for converts and reverts to socialize. Prior event organizing experience required.
Grant Writer: Help our Islamic center identify and pursue grant opportunities that can support the construction and development of our new Islamic center in downtown Chicago. Volunteers will research relevant grants, assess eligibility and requirements, assist with preparing compelling grant applications, and help communicate our center’s mission and community impact to potential funders.
Qur’an Circle Lead: Help lead and support Qur’an circles at our Islamic center by facilitating a welcoming environment for brothers and sisters to improve their Qur’an recitation. Volunteers should have a strong understanding of tajweed and experience listening to and correcting Qur’an recitation. Leads will help participants identify and correct mistakes, improve their pronunciation and fluency, and grow in confidence in their recitation.
Vendor Negotiator: Help our Islamic center make the most of our construction and operating budget by reviewing current expenses, researching competitive pricing, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs. Volunteers will help evaluate vendors and contracts, find more affordable alternatives where appropriate, and negotiate with existing or prospective vendors to secure better pricing and terms for the center.
